Mobile Phone, Tablet & Computer Repair Services
1. ABOUT THESE TERMS
1.1 Who We Are
These terms apply to Jack's Repairs ("we", "us", "our"), trading from 38 Middlegate, Penrith, CA11 7PT.
1.2 Your Rights
Your statutory rights are not affected by these terms. Under UK consumer law, you have legal rights relating to services that are not performed with reasonable care and skill, or goods that are faulty or not as described. These terms do not reduce your statutory rights.
1.3 Agreement
These terms form a legally binding contract between you and us when you accept our services. By requesting repair services, you agree to these terms.
2. OUR SERVICES
2.1 What We Do
We provide repair services for mobile phones, tablets, laptops, computers and related accessories ("Equipment"). Our services include:
- Diagnostic testing and fault identification
- Component repair and replacement
- Screen and display repairs
- Battery replacements
- Software troubleshooting (hardware-related only)
- Liquid damage cleaning and restoration
- Data recovery services (where technically possible)
2.2 Service Standards
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, we must:
- Perform all services with reasonable care and skill
- Complete work within a reasonable time
- Charge a reasonable price (where not agreed in advance)
- Honour any pre-contract statements we make about our services
3. PRICING AND PAYMENTS
3.1 Transparent Pricing
All prices displayed include VAT and any mandatory charges. We comply with regulations prohibiting "drip pricing" - we will not add unexpected fees during the service process.
3.2 Price Structure
- Diagnostic fee: £24.99 (waived if you proceed with quoted repair)
- No fix, no fee: For devices beyond economic repair (phones only)
- Return postage: £7.99 (mail-in repairs)
3.3 Payment Terms
- Payment required before repair commencement
- Accepted methods: Debit card, cash, bank transfer
- No payment surcharges will be applied for standard payment methods
- We may retain your device until full payment is received
4. YOUR CANCELLATION RIGHTS
4.1 14-Day Cooling-Off Period
You have the legal right to cancel within 14 days of:
- Requesting our services (distance contracts)
- Collecting your repaired device

4.3 Cancellation Charges
- Before work starts: Return postage only (£7.99 mail-in, £15 call-out)
- After work completed: Full service charge applies
- Emergency repairs: We may start immediately with your express consent
4.4 Liquid Damage Service Exception
Liquid damage assessment (£24.99) is non-refundable once performed, as this is a diagnostic service, not a repair guarantee.
5. WARRANTIES AND GUARANTEES
5.1 Our Warranty Promise
- 12 months warranty on all parts and workmanship
- 30 days warranty for liquid damage repairs (parts fitted only)
- Free warranty repairs including return postage
- Warranty covers replaced components only, not subsequent unrelated faults
5.2 Warranty Exclusions
Your warranty is void if:
- Device suffers additional accidental damage after repair
- Third-party repairs attempted on device after our service
- Device is jailbroken, rooted or modified
- Misuse, abuse or negligence causes further damage
- Liquid damage occurs after repair (separate incident)
5.3 Waterproof Device Limitation
We cannot guarantee waterproof integrity after repair. Original waterproofing requires manufacturer equipment we don't possess.
6. DEVICE COLLECTION AND RETURN
6.1 Uncollected Devices
If you don't collect your device within 30 days of notification:
- We may dispose of the device without written notice
- Disposal proceeds used to offset unpaid charges
- You remain liable for any remaining balance
6.2 Mail-In Returns
- Next working day service (not guaranteed)
- £500 insurance included in return postage
- Higher insurance available on request for additional fee
- Damage claims must be reported on delivery day with photographic evidence
7. DATA AND SOFTWARE
7.1 Your Responsibility
You must back up all data before repair. We accept no liability for:
- Data loss, corruption or deletion
- Software issues unrelated to hardware repair
- Virus or malware transmission
- Operating system problems

8. CONSUMER RIGHTS AND REMEDIES
8.1 If Our Service is Unsatisfactory
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, if our service is not performed with reasonable care and skill, you may be entitled to:
- Repeat performance at no charge
- Price reduction if repeat performance impossible
- Full refund in certain circumstances
8.2 Faulty Parts
If parts we supply are faulty, you have the right to:
- Repair or replacement (our choice initially)
- Refund if repair/replacement fails or takes too long
- Price reduction if you keep faulty goods
8.3 Time Limits for Claims
You have up to 6 years to make a claim for breach of contract (Scotland: 5 years).
9. LIABILITY AND LIMITATIONS
9.1 Our Liability to You
We do not exclude liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
- Fraudulent misrepresentation
- Breach of statutory consumer rights
- Any other liability that cannot be legally excluded
9.2 Limitation of Liability
Subject to clause 9.1, our liability is limited to:
- Re-performing the service, OR
- Refunding the service cost, OR
- Device replacement cost if damaged beyond repair through our negligence
9.3 Excluded Losses
We are not liable for:
- Indirect or consequential losses
- Business interruption
- Loss of profits or revenue
- Loss of data (see clause 7)
9.4 Time Limit for Claims
You must notify us of any claim within 3 months of discovering the issue.
10. DEVICE CONDITION AND REPAIR LIMITATIONS
10.1 Pre-Existing Damage Assessment
We test devices before and after repair. Pre-existing damage may not be apparent until repair work begins.
10.2 Accidental Damage Complications
For devices with prior drop, impact or liquid damage:
- Internal components may be weakened but functioning
- Repair process may reveal additional faults
- We are not liable for faults discovered during repair
- Additional repairs require your approval and payment
10.3 Cosmetic Considerations
For devices with dents or frame damage:
- We may need to straighten or file edges for safety and fit
- Cosmetic appearance may be affected
- New housings available at additional cost if preferred
11. WHAT WE DON'T COVER
11.1 Excluded Services and Damage
- Software-only issues unrelated to hardware
- User-induced damage after repair
- Manufacturer defects (refer to manufacturer warranty)
- Accessories sent with device (SIM cards, cases, chargers)
- Consequential damage from device failure
11.2 Non-Refundable Services
- Diagnostic fees where no fault found
- Liquid damage assessment (cleaning service provided)
- Return postage for cancelled services
12. DISPUTE RESOLUTION
12.1 Our Commitment
We are committed to resolving any concerns promptly and fairly.

13. GENERAL TERMS
13.1 Changes to Terms
We may update these terms to reflect legal changes or service improvements. Updated terms apply to services requested after the change date.
13.2 Unfair Terms
If any term is found unfair or unenforceable, it will be removed without affecting the rest of these terms.
13.3 Third Party Rights
These terms are between you and us only. No third party has rights under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
13.4 Governing Law
These terms are governed by English and Welsh law and subject to the jurisdiction of English courts.
13.5 Force Majeure
We are not liable for delays caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
